Someone I know just signed up and is planning to play an illegitimate child of a Duke. This character has no title at this time. What is the proper way to formally address him?

He's acknowledged but not titled. I figure it would be some equivalent to Mr.?
It might depend if the child was acknowledged or not. He wouldn't have a title either way unless he was given one independently, so far as I know. Apparently there was something of a tradition of illegitimate children taking the surname Fitz(father's name), but there's no rule.
