General Stats Lucinda Graves Pronouns: She/Her Sexuality: Heteroflexible Birthday (Age): August 12, 1786 (24) Title(s): Hopefully soon Countess of Dartmouth. Lucinda was named legal heir in Lord Bertram’s (the late Earl of Dartmouth) will, but this is currently being challenged by his older sister... negotiations are in progress. Country Residence: Harewood House, West Yorkshire Romance RP: Anything that is within the guidelines of the game is cool with me. Quick Overview Lucinda is the youngest child of the Earl and Countess of Castleton and has always stood out for being the charming, bubbly oddball in her family. Her parents and siblings are all incredibly brilliant, accomplished individuals… but they are wound a little tight. Seeking likeminded company, her debut season in 1803 did not yield a love match, but rather a kinship with Lords Bertram and Albon Graves. The couple took a shine to Lucinda (though the families were acquainted by virtue of geography), and she began to accompany them as their companion socially and took a very half-hearted approach to finding a marriage partner. She began to stay with them at Harewood House and accompany them on journeys for progressively longer stretches of time until Lord Bertram took sick in 1806, when she made the transition permanent. The Earls amended their wills shortly before Lord Bertram’s passing in 1807 to adopt Lucinda as their legal heir, inheritances passing to her following Lord Albon’s death. As a condition of her inheritance of the title and properties Lucinda changed her surname to Graves, which causes quite a bit of confusion surrounding the exact nature of their relationship. Following a mourning period, she was seen socially as Lord Albon’s companion until just before the miasma when the pair were involved in a carriage accident. The accident took Lord Albon’s life, and Lucinda went into mourning at their country estate as others were encouraged to leave London. Present Day Happenings Lucinda has returned to London and is staying with her cousin (an odd move, surely the late Earls had a London residence?) for the duration of the Season. She attended The Queen's Reception, Everbloom and the Denouement Ball and has plans to stay throughout August in order for her Inheritance case to be heard in the Courts beginning August 10th.. Family Connections Honorable mention to Bertram (63, passed 1807) and Albon Graves (41, passed 1810), who are not biological family but acted as beloved guardians until their respective passings. Parents: Patrick and Diana Bromley, Earl and Countess of Castleton Siblings: Giles (Viscount of Castleton, 34, married to Juliana), Heath (32), and Dorothy (29, married to Bernard) Nieces and Nephews: Martin (10, son to Dorothy), Adrian (8, son to Dorothy), Clara (6, daughter to Giles), Robert (5, son to Dorothy), and Jonathan (4, son to Giles). Formalities Envelopes: Lady Lucinda Graves Harewood House, West Yorkshire (current location) Addressing within a letter:First time contact/formal: Lady Graves (overt flattery might also include Countess Graves) Social/Friendly: Lady Lucinda Very friendly: Lucy (typically doesn’t take much) Connection Ideas
• Fellow socialite friends. Lucy was quite active on the social circuit up until last year. She’s absolutely itching to get back out and I imagine she’s spent these past months reminiscing about all the ~good times~, so people to exchange “Do you remember when the Viscount lost his beloved ocelot on a Piquet hand?” type letters with would be fantastic.
• Widowers to converse with. She doesn’t quite fit as the Earls were not romantic partners (at least according to her), but that really doesn’t deter her from rubbing elbows with fellow mourners.
• People who went to school with her siblings. Giles went to Cambridge from 1795-1799, Heath attended 1799-1802. Dorothy attended the University of Glasgow from 1800-1801.
• Anyone with a military background looking for compliments because Lucinda thinks that is just the dreamiest thing ever. Conversation Starters - Foodie Stuff. One of Lucinda’s greatest pleasures is hosting and/or attending dinner parties. She loves to pick the brains of those who have more professional experience and attempt to replicate recipes. She is far more experienced at eating or drinking than she is at cooking or knowing much about the cooking process, but this whole quarantine thing has made her venture into attempting to bother her kitchen staff for some floor time. She is the perfect QA tester. - The Perfect Pineapple. *Tangentially related to her love of food, wine, and recipe swapping is her never ending pursuit of the fanciest fruit she has ever seen. She’s been in the presence of plenty but has never had the opportunity to taste one as they are all completely rotten by the time it arrives as the centerpiece at a party she’s attending. Have you actually tasted a pineapple? Lucinda wants to know about it. - Have you seen Health? Lucinda’s brother Health has lived to see another day and is gonna make it everyone’s problem. The living embodiment of “Well, actually…”, he takes immense pleasure in annoying everyone in his presence from coast to coast. Trouble is, no one in her immediate family seems to see just how insufferable he is. Quick and enthusiastic replies will be written to letters regaling her of his awfulness. Aside from mortal injury or imprisonment (at least on the first letter), I’m down to roll with improvised alleged antics. - General Gossip Goodness. Lucy is a gossip through and through and needs very little incentive to jump right in. Do you have something you're dying to share? She's happy to take very direct letters on the subject and return the favor.
Maybe Lady Graves and Miss Boscawen were seated next to each other at the dinner of (insert favorite NPC or whoever) and she found out that the rum cakes served after dinner where baked by Caroline's mother. This can start a foodie conversation and perhaps an invitation to learn how to prepare...a less secret recipe version of them (because her mother is jealous of writing down the actual recipe lol) and also one of the rum punches...maybe one that taste like Pina Colada (but named differently since they don't know Spanish in this Alt World), which can incorporate....Lady Graves love of Pineapple---something....hope that makes sense?
